Alpha Epsilon Omega was established on December 20, 2000 by Hakop Sinoryan, Misak Zetilyan, and Antranik Satamian at California State University, Northridge. During a High School Exchange trip to Armenian the spring of 1999, these men saw an impoverished nation with wide spread corruption and injustice. Upon returning to the United States, their experiences in Armenia and a passion for their Armenian heritage inspired them to establish an after-school program for the Armenian youth in their hometown of Pasadena, California. As freshmen in college, their studies and work created time constraints forcing the triumvirate to abandon the after-school program in the fall of 1999, still in the planning stages.
Over the years Alpha Chapter has united Armenians on campus with their involvement in the Armenian Student Association and other events sponsored by the Armenian community. Since the foundation of Alpha, many brothers have held high positions on the board of ASA. Most recently for the 2019/20 school year, a brother of Alpha Chapter was elected president of CSUN ASA. In addition to the chapter’s involvement in the Armenian community, Alpha Chapter brothers have also been active in the Greek council we are a part of, the Independent Greek Council. Since the foundation of IGC in 2016 our brothers have been active in its ranks and executive board, even having one of them elected as President for the 2019/20 school year. Academically, Alpha Chapter is one of the leaders on campus. Among all fraternities on CSUN’s campus, Alpha Epsilon Omega’s Alpha chapter consistently achieves a high GPA and gets recognized for it. During the 2018/19 school year, Alpha Chapter was recognized as the best fraternity on campus among all councils and fraternities. This achievement is in no small part due to the philanthropic efforts the chapter undertakes for both the Armenian community and the CSUN community.
Alpha Chapter is also widely regarded as one of the leaders among the other chapters for Alpha Epsilon Omega Sports Day. As the current reigning, defending champions, Alpha has a long history of outsanding athletic ability over the years.
